Orion SpaceProbe 130ST
The Orion SpaceProbe 130ST Equatorial Reflector Telescope is a rich field Newtonian reflector that has a 24″ long tube. This telescope with a shorter tube than the standard model, SpaceProbe 130, is more compact and lighter in weight than the standard model.
The SpaceProbe 130ST has a 130mm aperture primary that is a diffraction limited parabolic mirror which is the same type that is used by more costly and larger reflector scopes. Since the Orion SpaceProbe 130ST has a short focal length, the parabolic mirror is necessary to focus the incoming light to a point and producing sharp detailed images. In addition, the secondary mirror is mounted in such a way to reduce diffraction spikes and light loss. These two features combined with the provided eyepieces make this telescope an excellent option for astronomy!
The compact Orion SpaceProbe 130ST is an excellent choice for the beginner or a more advance sky viewer that is looking for a telescope that is easily transported. This telescope only weighs approximately 27 lbs. completely assembled, making this a great choice as a portable telescope.

Orion SpaceProbe 130ST Equatorial Reflector Telescope Reviews
The Orion SpaceProbe 130ST Equatorial Reflector Telescope gets five star reviews from almost all Amazon reporting users. The majority of users were impressed with the clarity of images and the ease of use of this telescope, although a few users did state that it took some practice to use it properly. The equatorial mount also took some getting used to for some users. There were many customer reviews stating how much fun they were having with this telescope. Many customers are even using the Orion SpaceProbe as a family night event.
Orion has an excellent reputation for its products and support and this was evidenced by some users. One in particular stated that when he received the telescope, the mount bracket was broken, so he called Orion support. Without questioning the customer’s issue, Orion immediately shipped a new mount bracket which the user received a few days later. Now, that’s customer support!
There really wasn’t any major complaints about this telescope. One reviewer that did not give this telescope a 5 star rating mentioned that you couldn’t input the location of an object and have the telescope automatically point to that location. Another reviewer stated that another Orion telescope model would produce clearer pictures. Of course, the product details for the Orion SpaceProbe 130ST are a little lacking on Amazon so it doesn’t inform customers that this telescope is not a “go to” model. That being said, there are accessories available from Orion that will add more functionality.
Overall, the Orion SpaceProbe 130ST Equatorial Reflector Telescope is an excellent choice for either a beginner or amatuer user. This telescope is also an excellent choice if you’re looking for one that provides quality viewing and ease of portability.
